The association is founded in 1970. Following its objectives, the association organises meetings,
conferences and education events, and publishes a professional periodical. In addition, it strives for improving
and developing the professional skills of those people practicing with these problems. The title of the periodical published
is 'Structural Mechanics - Journal of Structural Mechanics’. The periodical has been published since 1968,
and it consists of four issues each year, in general. The papers accepted can be written in Finnish or English.
The papers in Finnish include a short separate 'English Summary'. The Exchange Centre for Scientific Literature
(called Exchange Center on navigation) is in charge of the exchange of the periodical with various international forums.
The price of subscribing is 12 Euros from Finland and 38 Euros from abroad.

CO-OPERATION

The Association of Structural Mechanics in Finland is the member of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies
and it has co-operation with many corresponding communities and societies, Acoustical Society of Finland, etc. The membership includes
traditionally numerous companies as community members, and it has excellent relationships with most corporations acting in the field.

MEMBERSHIP

The membership of the association consists of ordinary, young, permanent and honorary members.
The societies and patrons working in the field are important members as well. Any person interested or working in
the field of mechanics may apply for the membership. The fees are 35 Euro for an ordinary (privat) member
and 225 Euro for a society. Students are free of the fee. For ordinary members the fee covers also the periodical quarterly.
